SouthIndian Lunch Option 1

Amma had invited her friend with family today for lunch. Since they love SouthIndian food, Amma made it a point to make it as festive as possible with the traditional SouthIndian spread!

SouthIndian Lunch Option 1

Normally a traditional TamBrahm lunch is served on a plaintain leaf. There is a procedure in serving the lunch. First a little dab of Payasam | Any sweet. This is followed by some pachadi, some sabzis, vadas, appams, kela. Steamed Rice is served followed by a dollop of Homemade Ghee | Clarified Butter. Then Sambar is served to relish the delectable curry. Sambar is mixed with steamed rice and little bit of all the sabzis and pachhadi along with Appalams | Pappadams is eaten. Another serve of Steamed Rice along with Rasam is served. Then on the plaintain leaf itself little Payasam is served. once thats eaten, a final serve of Steamed Rice along with Buttermilk is served which is eaten with Pickles...This is followed by serving a bowl of Payasam to finish the wonderful lunch!

Today Amma served Steamed Rice with:

8. Kathirikkai Murangakkai Chembu Sambar

9. Nellikai Urgai

10. Paruppu

11. Mor | Buttermilk

12. Homemade Ghee | Clarified Butter

To go with this she had fried some lovely, crunchy Appalams too!

A wonderful time...and good food is even more delicious when made with love and shared with loved ones! Bon Appetite!
