HOW TO MAKE RICE FLOUR AT HOME!

Rice Flour is very easy to make. Many interesting recipes from savouries and sweets can be made with this. This flour can be made in advance and stored in air tight container.

Normally during Gokulashtami and Diwali, Amma will stock up this Homemade Rice Flour to make naivedhyam varieties.

Rice Flour - How to make

INGREDIENTS

1 cup Raw Rice

METHOD
  • Wash by gently brushing raw rice with your fingers in sufficient water. Drain. Repeat process twice.
  • Soak cleaned rice in water for atleast 6 hours.
  • Drain soaked rice in a colander. Ensure water is completely drained.
  • On a kitchen towel, gently spread a thin layer of the drained rice. Let it sit on the towel for about 3 to 4 minutes. 
  • In batches, grind rice to smooth powder. Once one batch is ground, sieve it and the granular bits that stay on the sieve, grind the same along with the remaining rice.
  • Sieve the second batch also, after grinding them to a smooth powder.
  • Store the fine rice flour in an airtight container.
We can use this roasted Rice Flour to make instant Dosas where we add Rice Flour, Uppu Seedai, Kai Murrukku, Urad Dal Ladoo, Thattai and many more wonderful recipes!
