Guacamole - A delicious and healthy Mexican Dip!

The first time Amma tasted Avocado was in Bengaluru. My nephew loves this and so my sister used to get fresh ones and whip up many dishes with the same. Apart from the sweet version of an Avocado Milkshake or Smoothie, Amma and my nephew used to just scoop out the ripe Avocado into a bowl, add a dash of sugar and then gently mash it up. This used to be the after school treat!

Guacamole is what Amma loved when we tried it at Mumbai. Since Avocados are easily available here, all you need is to know how to select the perfect one. I tried ordering this on couple of occasions from a leading online grocery store but was always disappointed as only rotten ones were being delivered!! So this time a trip to the local market I was delighted to see fresh, perfect shaped, green ones! Once home, I wrapped each with a piece of paper to hasten up its ripening process. A daily vigil on the same and within 2 days lovely ripe avocados ready to relish!

Avocado has healthy fats and a host of other nutrition. Amma loves the taste and she describes it to be like that of tender coconut! Appa is finding its taste interesting!
