Homemade Rasam Podi | Powder

Amma normally makes the traditional Rasam at home...grinding fresh masalas as required for the elixir! Family and friends just love the Rasam and on their request she tried to make Rasam Podi..which is in huge demand when someone is visiting their family and friends outside India.

Homemade Rasam Podi | Powder

Ingredients:
250 gms Red Boria Chilli  | Gundu Chilli | Small Round variety
125 gms Toor Dal
125 gms Channa Dal
125 gms Dhania | Coriander Seed
25 gms Kali Miri | Black Pepper
25 gms Methi | Fenugreek Seed

Method:
  • Dry roast Toor Dal, Channa Dal, Dhania, Black pepper and Methi, separately in a pan and keep aside to cool.
  • While the pan is still hot, after the gas is switched off, add the Red Boria Chilli and just stir them to make them warm.
  • Grind all the ingredients to a fine powder.
  • Store the Rasam Podi in air tight container in a dry cool place.
