We love to have salads and many a time we get in the tender radish that have really fresh greens. Amma loves to make Mullangi Ella Thoran as this is Appa's favourite veggie and he loves it in every avatar!
Ingredients:
2 cups Mullangi Ella | Radish Leaves, finely chopped
1 Onion, finely chopped
1 tblsp Rice, raw
1 tsp Urad Dal
1 Sukhi Lal Mirch | Dried Red Chilli
1 tsp Jeera | Cumin Seeds
1/2 tsp Haldi | Turmeric Powder
1 sprig Kadhi Patta | Curry Leaves
1 tsp Oil
1 tsp Rai | Mustard Seeds
1 tsp White Til | Sesame Seeds, dry roasted
To taste Salt
Method:
- In a kadhai dry roast red chilli, jeera, rice, half of the urad dal and curry leaves.Transfer to a plate and when cool, grind this masala-mix to a fine powder. Keep aside.
- In the same kadhai, heat oil, add rai and remaining urad dal. When the rai splutters, add the chopped onion, Saute till the onions become translucent.
- Add chopped Mullangi Ella, salt and haldi. Mix well. Cook for 3 minutes or till the leaves are cooked. In case the sabzi appears very dry, add just 1 tsp of water.
- Add the masala-mix and mix it well. The sabzi will be fluffed up.
- Switch off the gas and transfer to a serving bowl.
- Serve hot with Steamed Rice and Sambar | Rasam or plain Thaiyr Sadam.
