Of the many chutneys that can be made in a jiffy, Tomato Onion Fried Gram Chutney is the easiest to make. This Chutney can be relished with almost all of the SouthIndian Snacks like Idli | Dosa | Adai | Uttappam | Vada | Upama | Venpongal.

INGREDIENTS
1 Tomato, large, roughly chopped
1 Onion, large, roughly chopped
2 Green Chilli
1 tblsp Pottukadalai | Chutney Dal | Fried Gram
1 tblsp Fresh Dhania | Coriander Leaves, finely chopped
1 tblsp Fresh Dhania | Coriander Leaves, finely chopped
1/2 tsp Oil
To taste Salt
METHOD
- In a kadhai, dry roast Fried Gram to just make them warm. Transfer to a plate and keep aside.
- In the same kadhai, heat oil and add onions and saute for 2 minutes.
- Add chopped tomatoes. Saute for 2-3 minutes.
- Switch off gas and let the sauteed onions-tomatoes cool.
- Grind sauteed onions-tomatoes, roasted fried gram, fresh dhania, green chilli and salt to a fine paste. Add water as per required consistency of thickness.
- Serve fresh. Store in air tight container in refrigeration. This will stay fresh for 3 days. I do not know beyond that, as by then we would have finished this YUM chutney.
