A nourishing and tasty flatbread option is the Palak Mathi Makkai Roti. This is very delicious and tastes awesome with almost everything! Be it as a Main Course Item to a Breakfast | Snack Item, this is surely to be loved by all.

This Palak Methi Makkai Roti is a great way to ensure all those who usually refrain from eating their greens, relish them in this manner! This Roti has to be had hot, right from the pan.

We make these lovely rotis usually on a Sunday, when all are at home and from the tava directly to the plate these can be served. Once cool, these taste awesome, but become dry and hence chewy.

Palak Methi Makkai Roti

INGREDIENTS

1 cup Makkai Atta | Maize Flour
1 tblsp Whole Wheat Flour
3/4 cup Palak | Spinach, chopped
1/4 cup Methi | Fenugreek Leaves, roughly chopped
1 tsp White Til | Sesame Seeds, dry roasted
1 1/2 tsp Green Chilli Paste
1/2 tsp Oil
To taste Salt
Plastic Sheet
Oil, for roti
Makkai Atta, for dusting

METHOD
  • In a mixing bowl add makkai atta, whole wheat flour, palak, methi, green chilli paste, til and oil. Mix and knead to prepare a semi stiff dough. Add required water to bind the dough.
  • Divide the dough to lemon size equal portions.
  • Place the plastic sheet on a plate and dust it with makkai atta. Place one dough portion on the sheet and pat it to a small puri shape with your palm. Since this dough is not soft as normal roti dough, the sides may crack. Not to worry!
  • Dust this puri on both sides with makkai atta and place on plastic sheet. Now with a rolling pin gently shape the puri to a 5" diameter thick roti. As you roll the roti, gently shape the sides with with your fingers so that the edges are not too much cracked. In the similar manner prepare the remaining rotis.
  • Heat a non stick tava and reduce the flame to medium. Place one roti on tava and once the top side starts to change colour, flip the roti to other side.
  • After a minute, flip the roti again and drizzle very little oil. Flip again and drizzle little oil on this side too. Once brown spots appear on both sides, the roti is done.
  • Serve hot.
