Amazing in taste, ease in preparation and a wonderful side dish along with Rasam | Sambhar ...Thurivina Vazhakkai Thoran! We love this grated raw plaintain | banana sabzi. I love to eat a little bit of it as a tea time snack!
Amma made Varutharcha Thakkali Rasam | Traditional Tomato Rasam today. To go with that she made this delicious Thurivina Vazhakkai Thoran.
Ingredients:
4 Vazhakkai | Plaintain | Raw Banana | Kachha Kela, medium size
1 tblsp Groundnut | Peanut
1/4 tsp Channa Dal
1/4 tsp Rai | Mustard Seeds
2 Green chillies, finely chopped
1/2 " Adrak | Ginger, finely chopped
1 sprig Kadhi Patta | Curry Leaves
1/2 tblsp Fresh Dhania | Coriander Leaves, finely chopped
1 tblsp Oil
To taste Salt

Method:
- Wash the raw bananas and pressure cook them with the peel for 2 whistles.
- Let the cooked raw bananas cool. Then peel and grate them. Keep aside.
- In a kadhai, heat the oil. Add groundnuts, rai, channa dal and curry leaves.
- When the rai splutters add the finely chopped adrak and green chillies.
- Add grated cooked raw banana and salt. Mix gently. Cook for 2 minutes on low flame.
- Mix well and switch off the gas.
- Transfer to a serving bowl. Garnish with finely chopped fresh dhania leaves.
- Serve as a side dish with any Sambhar | Rasam.
